Following three days of mixed conditions, the Bénéteau ‘First by Farr’ lived up to her name in the 5th Bay of Islands Regatta in New Zealand winning first on IRC and General Handicap. Skipper Andy Pilcher, aided by crew from NZ Bénéteau agent Yachtfinders-Global and representatives from Boating New Zealand commented on the First 34.7s performance. “The yacht handled really well in all conditions, showing excellent boat speed up and downwind. It just goes to show you what a great all rounder the First 34.7 is. We had great racing in the Bay of Islands and a very comfortable cruise home’.
Both the Bénéteau First 34.7 and new Bénéteau First 50 were recently nominated for the title of European Yacht of the Year. The award was instead bestowed on Chantiers Bénéteau as a company, creating the special award of ‘European Boatyard of the Year’ in recognition of its commitment to Innovation and Development.
