Docklands Boat Show Wrap Up

The 2011 Melbourne Boat and Lifestyle Show at the Docklands was held on the 4-6th February and Sundance Marine had a large range of Beneteau yachts on display including the First 35, First 40, First 45 along with the Oceanis 34, Oceanis 37, Oceanis 43, and the show standout Oceanis 58.

Despite the appalling weather at times (especially Friday night), we had a great response from customers, particularly on the Oceanis range of yachts.

As a result, two more Oceanis 34's were sold the week after the show taking the total Oceanis 34 sales to nine now, with six of these being berthed at Sandringham marina alone plus one heading to Hobart soon, which should make for some great social fleet racing for those lucky enough to own one.

The Oceanis 34 has now also become Victoria's most popular Beneteau ever sold and no wonder considering they are priced under $200,000 thanks to the strong AUD at the moment. Bellerive +100 Yachts Challenge

The Wednesday Twilight Series in Hobart has been in existence for around 30 years and for the last twenty two years has had the same sponsor, Hughie Lewis of Lewis Marine.

A few years ago, when the Twilight fleet peaked at around 80 boats Hughie stated that "If we ever get 100 boats on the water I will shout the bar!"

Well on the 9th February, 131 yachts crossed the start line and consequently Lewis Marine, Nautilus Marine and Fish Frenzy generously offered to provide all crews with a meal and a drink along with a great sight for the spectators around Victoria Esplanade. Full results...

Smelly Toilet Tip

We frequently get customers asking why their toilet smells a bit more than normal. Unfortunately all toilets can be prone to being a little bit smelly, but there are a number of things that you can do to reduce the bad smells that come from a marine toilet:

	Flush the toilet with a lot more water than you think you need, as it is important that the waste is pushed all the way into the holding tank and does not flow back to sit in the hose pipes.
	Do not leave sea water in bowl for extended periods of time. If you are not using the boat for a while, flush a litre or so of fresh/clean water through the toilet.
	Pump a half cup of vegetable oil into the bowl periodically, as this will help lubricate the hose pipes and stop the seals from drying out.
