The All New First 35 - 2009 Boat of the Year

The First 35 is not only glamorous, but fast!

Recently introduced at the European Autumn Boat Shows, the First 35 has already received its first accolade. While it has not yet had time to show its racing colours here in Australia, it has just been voted 'Boat of the Year 2009' by the French Voile Magazine.

Consisting of boating professionals and sailors, the jury particularly emphasis that 'on the wind, helming this hull is all about real pleasure and is spectacularly maneuverable when it comes to tacking on a beat, due to the small overlap of its genoa'.

Designed by Farr Yacht Design, this 35-foot cruiser-racer promises good performance under the IRC rating. Speedy and sleek, it replaces the First 34.7 and 36.7; the designers have not forgotten, however, to be generous and especially clever with their interior layout.

The judges particularly welcomed the spatial balance, the innovation of the double doors accessing the forecabin, as well as the swiveling saloon table. Promising first steps that will not be slow to go on and score points on the water.

Sandringham Sail Boat Show 2009

The Club Marine Sail Boat Show returns to Sandringham Yacht Club on the weekend of 14-15 November 2009 at the Club's brand new premises.

The show provides free entry to all SYC Members, Club Marine policy holders and all Yachting Australia Silver Card holders.

Beneteau First 45 Delivery

Not even the gloomy skies of Melbourne can shadow the delivery of a brand new First 45 for a customer into the new Sandringham Yacht Club. The guys have worked overtime in the last week to get this boat ready to display in the Melbourne Club Marine Sail Boat Show starting this Saturday.

2010 Melbourne Beneteau Regatta

Due to a clash of dates with Club Marine Series, the 2010 Beneteau Regatta is now confirmed to be held on the Saturday 6th March, 2010.

This annual event has already sparked a spirit of competitiveness amongst a few of our owners after last months photo in our eNews from the 2009 Regatta showing Paul Commins in 'Dionysis' trailing Phil Gomez in 'Play', but Paul has reason to believe that trick photography was to blame as he insists that "we were clearly in the lead!"
